It gives us immense pleasure to announce that Mahatma Gandhi University’s Department of Management Studies, Nalgonda, Telangana is organizing a National Seminar on 13th March, 2015, entitled “Rural Market in India: An Unexplored Terrain”. The seminar is sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi.
ELK Asia Pacific Journals, being the academic partners will publish the proceedings of the conference after Blind Review and edit in a Special Issue online (under the open-access publishing scheme) and in a book with ISBN number: 978-81-930411-9-2.
About the Seminar
Three fourth of India’s population lives in rural areas and generates around 50 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The Rural market is a combination of growing incomes and aspirations of about 850 million consumers who inhabit 650,000 villages across the country.
As a result of green revolution in agriculture, white revolution in dairy farming and the other development activities implemented by the Government, the productivity, prosperity and disposable incomes of the rural population have improved. With that, the Indian government has earmarked financial inclusion as one of its foremost priorities. A result of which was the launch of ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana’, the National Mission for Financial Inclusion by the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi in August 2014. There is enough evidence to suggest that financial inclusion is crucial to reducing poverty.
Present your research efforts showcasing the possible ways of rural market development.
